Just finished working part time at Access Ingenuity, a local company for which I was writing software to automate their file and project management.
It was interesting to be the only person writing code and building internal tools for this company. I learned a lot about writing proper code, as I took it upon myself to make sure I followed good software engineering practices like writing clean/readable code with comments, writing documentation, being responsible about Git and version control, and continuously communicating with the team to make sure the processes were up to date.
I'm grateful for the (very important) experience of teaching myself new skills and practices.
Next stop: joining a company where I can learn from experienced mentors, work with an established codebase, and be closer to tech overall.
